When you switch from one mobile network provider to another and still retain your mobile number is simply known as porting. Many of us get tired of the network we’re making use of and wish to change their network but don’t want to go through the stress of getting a new sim and start making use of two sims. The best solution is to port to the other network and this time our area of focus is moving from Cell C to Vodacom, both are South African mobile networks.
How to port from Cell C to Vodacom
- Get a new Vodacom sim
This is the first step you need to take, get a new registered Vodacom sim that you’re going to make use of in this process. - Contact Vodacom and SMS them your existing number. SMS ‘portme’ followed by your new SIM number to 082 767 8287.
- Two SMS will be sent to you, one is the confirmation SMS, and the other an SMS with a porting date.
- The final thing to do is to dial 136 one day after your port date to activate.
